THE COMPANY
The Nikos-Takis Atelier was founded in 1963 when Nikos and Takis decided to abandon the visual arts and traditional crafts and focus on fabric and the female figure. Their primary goal was to design unusual and daring creations by combining handmade fabric and muslin. Soon, the quality of their work and their creativity were recognized worldwide, and in October 1972, at the invitation of the Greek government, they participated in the 1st Greek Fashion Festival.
In summary, the firm's successful track record includes the placement of their creations among exhibits at the Chicago and Philadelphia History Museums ; the evening gowns they designed for the 74 contestants in the Miss Universe beauty pageant, held at the ancient Herodion Theater; and representing Greece at a fashion festival held at the Ceausescu Palace in Bucharest.
Throughout the long history of the fashion house, personalities from international high society have chosen to wear the creations of Nikos and Takis. More specifically, Elizabeth Taylor, Linda Evans, Ursula Andress, Sophia Loren, Ornella Muti, Joan Collins, Jackie Onassis, Maria Callas, and Nana Mouskouri are among the fashion house's international clientele.
International fashion magazines and newspapers, such as The New York Times, Vogue, and L'Officiel, have featured articles on the brand's success and presented many of its collections in their pages.
Local Greek movie stars, including Aliki Vougiouklaki, Jenny Karezi, Rena Vlachopoulou, Irini Pappa, the Karouta sisters and Mary Chronopoulou, also showed their preference for the Greek duo for their special appearances.
More recently, Nikos-Takis Atelier designed and produced the uniforms for Athens Airways pilots and flight attendants, as well as for security personnel at Eleftherios Venizelos Airport.
